RUF CTR Anniversary
Description
RUF CTR Anniversary is a 2-seater sports car presented at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in 2017, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the RUF CTR “Yellowbird”, which RUF produced in 1987-1996 based on the Porsche 911 model (964).
Development and production
“We have been waiting for the right moment in our history to build our own car, and the 30th anniversary of the CTR “Yellowbird” is exactly that moment. The idea for the 2017 CTR has been on my mind for a very long time,” said Alois Ruf, president and owner of RUF Automobile GmbH. It took five years to develop the model, and it was the first car completely developed in-house, and only superficially resembled the previous model based on the Porsche 911 (964).
Production of the CTR Anniversary started in 2019. The planned circulation was 50 copies, not counting the prototype shown in Geneva. The cost of each model was approximately 800-900 thousand euros.
Engine
Like the original model, the rear engine concept was retained. Metzger's flat 6-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 3.6 liters is a direct further development of the "Yellowbird" power unit. The new RUF CTR used a dry sump lubrication system and a water-cooled twin turbo. The rated power of the power unit was 710 hp. at 6750 rpm and 880 Nm of torque.
Transmission
Torque was sent to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential and a 7-speed manual transmission that was completely redesigned by RUF.
Dynamics
The use of carbon fiber and light alloy metals made it possible to obtain a curb weight of 1250 kg, which in turn affected the dynamic characteristics: acceleration to 100 kph took only 3.5 s, and the maximum speed reached 362 kph.
Chassis
The basis of the chassis was a carbon fiber monocoque with bolt-on steel tube subframes, entirely designed and built by RUF. Body style Porsche 911 (964) was also made of carbon fiber.
Suspension front and rear was independent double wishbones in a pushrod configuration similar to race cars. Tires measuring 245/35 ZR19 at the front and 305/30 ZR19 at the rear were shod on forged alloy wheels with central locking.
Brake system
The carbon-ceramic brake system had 6-piston calipers with 380mm discs at the front and 4-piston calipers with 350mm discs at the rear.
Interior
The cabin was trimmed in Alcantara and made entirely in the style of the Porsche 911 (964) with the preservation of analogue dials with green numbers and a three-spoke steering wheel. The seats were made from carbon fiber and the perforated pedals were made from aluminium.
