Callaway C6 Corvette CR-1

In 1992, Callaway introduced its new SuperNatural line and the Corvette CR-1, powered by the LT5 ZR1 and based on the ZR-1 platform. The standard Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 produced 385 hp, while the Callaway CR-1 produced 475 hp. Over the next few years of development, Callaway increased the CR-1's power by another 30 hp. up to 505 hp and a torque of 576 Nm with the addition of various exhaust modifications.

Comparing the results obtained, there is indeed reason to call Callaway’s achievements supernatural: just a couple of years ago, the C4/B2K produced 345-417 hp. with two turbochargers, GM itself for similar (385-405 hp) power indicators of the ZR-1 had to order very complex and very expensive 32-valve overhead LT5 engines from Lotus and Mercury Marine, and Callaway offered its customers cars with a power of 400- 450 hp based on conventional atmospheric LT1. These cars were produced from 1992 to 1996, 10-25 copies annually, and are known as the Callaway C6 or CL-1. The Callaway CR-1, that is, the Corvette ZR-1 with a tuned LT5 engine with a power of 475-505 hp, also has the internal index C6.

As before, in addition to engine modifications, Callaway received an Aerobody, leather interior, different wheels, brakes and exhaust system at the customer's request. Of course, unlike the C4, the new cars were no longer offered as production cars – any Corvette owner could provide their car to Callaway for conversion, or order the CL-1/CR-1 new. In this case, the company simply purchased a finished Corvette from a dealer and prepared it to SuperNatural's specifications and the customer's wishes.
