Description
Thanks to the success of the AMR racing team (Aston Martin Racing) in endurance competitions, since 2017, Aston Martin began to designate the fastest modifications of its production models with the letters AMR. In May 2018, the Aston Martin DB11 AMR, a replacement for the 12-cylinder version of the Aston Martin DB11, was unveiled at the AMR Performance Center at the Nürburgring. The first 100 units were only sold in the Signature Edition painted in Stirling Green and Lime Green racing colors.
Aston Martin President and CEO Dr Andy Palmer said of the DB11 AMR: “Since its first launch in 2016, the DB11 line has grown quickly and intelligently, selling around 4,200 V12s in that period. With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante, we felt that the V12 could unlock more of its sporting potential while still being the ultimate GT. Applying a set of carefully thought-out performance and styling upgrades, the DB11 AMR is faster – 208 mph! – and more accurate. It's a combination that draws on and equally cosmetics to create a dynamic and enticing new flagship for the DB11 range, while consolidating existing V12-powered DB11s as future collectibles."
The DB11 AMR was based on Aston Martin's 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12. Now he developed 630 hp, and this is an additional 30 hp. compared to the original DB11 V12 and 127 hp. more than DB11 with V8 engine. The torque remained unchanged and amounted to 700 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kph was 3.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds less than the previous model, and a top speed of 335 kph, making the DB11 AMR one of the fastest GT cars in the world and the fastest model in Aston Martin's current production series.
An advanced titanium exhaust system and polymer inserts with a distinctive, deep, booming sound, as well as special suspension settings, have made it possible to significantly improve the dynamic characteristics of the car. Driver assistance systems were also available in the configuration: DSC, ABS, EBD, EBA, TC, HBA, PTC and DTV.
Externally, the DB11 AMR differed from its predecessor with a black grille, glossy black roof, carbon fiber bodywork, darkened headlight underlays, tinted taillights, and trim materials.
Interior trim in the DB11 AMR was an elegant combination of leather with suede accents. The double trim is also used on the sports steering wheel, which is truncated at the bottom. The headrests were emblazoned with the inscription "AMR" elegantly embroidered in white thread.
The supercar was equipped with a digital dashboard, an infotainment system with an integrated navigation system, a set of cameras for all-round visibility, sports leather seats equipped with electric adjustments and ventilation with a contrasting central strip, and keyless entry to the cabin.
The AMR was available in 2018 for around £175,000.
