Description
The Bentley Continental GT Speed was introduced in 2021 with a boosted W12 engine as a sportier model in the Continental GT lineup.
Dr. Matthias Rabe, Bentley Motors Engineering Board Member, commented: “The new Continental GT Speed represents the pinnacle of performance racing. This new model is the ultimate expression of the values of the Continental GT, exciting and dynamic, with unique speed detailing that enhances driving comfort and offers customers more control over the car's character.”
Engine
Minor changes were made to the 6.0-liter W12 turbo engine, resulting in an increase in power from 635 to 659 hp. without changing the torque (900 N∙m). As a result, the Bentley Continental GT Speed can accelerate to 100 kph in 3.6 seconds, compared to 3.7 seconds for the current generation base coupe and 3.5 seconds for the previous Supersports version. And the maximum speed is 335 kph against 333 and 336 kph, respectively.
Transmission
The ZF 8DT brand gearbox was installed as on the base model, and also transmitted torque to all wheels, but the gear shift time was halved.
For the first time at Bentley, the latest generation of the Continental GT Speed features an electronic rear differential (eLSD), which, together with traction control with traction control and an active chassis, provides improved longitudinal stability and traction.
Suspension
Wheels with a diameter of 22 inches took the place of the base 21 inches. For the Sport driving mode, new settings for the adaptive chassis and active stabilizers have been selected.
Brake system
The Speed version received carbon-ceramic brakes, previously available in the base only for the previous generation Supersports. 10-piston mechanisms were installed in front, 4-piston mechanisms in the back.
Exterior
On the exterior of the Speed model, a Dark Tint grille and lower bumper grille were added, as well as unique, more embossed sporty sills and a chrome Speed badge on the front fender.
Interior
The luxurious interior could be further personalized with a choice of 15 primary and 11 secondary leather colors, as well as the use of leather instead of Alcantara to separate the Speed colors. Quilted Bentley Diamond in Diamond fabric was standard, while embroidered Speed headrests highlighted the interior of the most powerful Continental GT.
