Vermot Veritas RS3 Hybrid Concept

In 2011, Vermot announced the release of the Veritas RS3 as a hybrid with an additional electric motor, and the start of development of its electric version.

The Veritas RS3 Hybrid had the same exterior styling as the petrol-engined RS3, and it was also powered by BMW's 507 PS V10 engine. What's new, however, is the introduction of a 140 hp electric motor mounted between the front wheels and powered by lithium-ion batteries that can be charged from an electrical outlet. On electric power alone it was possible to travel at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 kph). Unlike other hybrid and electric cars, the RS3 Hybrid was not equipped with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), as the system is too heavy and could affect the car's performance.

With the addition of a hybrid system, the Veritas RS3 is 230 kilograms heavier. However, the extra weight does not affect the car's performance, the RS3 Hybrid is 0.1 seconds faster than the petrol version and is able to accelerate to 100 kph in 3.1 seconds. The maximum speed is also 330 kph.

The Veritas RS III Hybrid is equipped with Dunlop tires – 325/25 at the rear and 255/30 at the front. Like the petrol model, the Hybrid also features the same height-adjustable, special sports chassis tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The exterior design of the Veritas RS3 Hybrid was completely identical to the petrol model: single-seater, with the driver's seat mounted on the left side. The compact cabin continues the racy interior theme and features a Recaro sports seat and racing-style steering wheel. The car does not come with a full-size windshield, only a small wind deflector.
