Mercedes-Benz AG (Germany) is a manufacturer of premium cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles. The brand name was adopted in 1926 by the merger of two competing firms, Benz & Cie. (founded by Karl Benz) and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (founded by Gottlieb Daimler), into a single concern - Daimler-Benz. The brand name is derived from the two most significant vehicles of the combined companies - the 1901 Mercedes and the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen.
