Faralli & Mazzanti Vulca S

    Description

    In early March 2009, at the Salone Internazionale del Lusso (Vicenza), dedicated to luxury goods, Faralli & Mazzanti (F&M) presented a coupe named Vulca S, which is taken from Etruscan culture, in honor of the sculptor Vulca da Veio, who created terracotta statues of Jupiter and Apollo, as well as a bronze statue of a she-wolf who nursed Romulus and Remus, on Capitoline Hill.

    The style of the car is largely inspired by the F&M Antas, introduced to the public in 2006. The process of building a supercar takes at least 11 months. All the details of the project are agreed with the client, and while the car is being built, he is always welcome to visit the villa in the province of Tuscany, where the workshop is based.

    A series of Faralli & Mazzanti Vulca S was planned in 10 copies worth from 280 to 340 thousand euros.

    Mechanics

    According to various sources, the supercar was equipped with a V12 engine, in addition to the V10 engine. In particular, it was reported that initially, during the development process, the model was called the Vulca S V12 and was equipped with such an engine, which later replaced the V10. According to another version, in addition to the V10, the V12 Mercedes M120 was offered, which had 3 power options: a 6.0-liter 445 hp. and 600 Nm; 7.1-liter 520 hp and 730 Nm and 7.5-liter 600 hp and 800 Nm of torque.

    The V10 engine was the power plant of the BMW S85, which was borrowed from the BMW M5/M6 models. On the base model, the engine had a volume of 5 liters and a power of 507 hp. The engine had a dry sump lubrication system and individual throttle valves for each cylinder. But the Vulca S got an improved version, modified by specialists from Dinan High Performance, who increased the volume to 5.8 liters. They increased the stroke of the pistons, changed the diameter of the cylinders, installed new connecting rods and a crankshaft. As a result, the engine output increased to 630 hp. A stainless steel direct-flow exhaust system was also installed.

    A 6-speed manual transmission worked in tandem with the engine, however, according to information from various sources, the client could also order a five-speed automatic transmission if desired. Torque from the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels.

    As a result of all the manipulations, the mass of the car reached 1600 kg, which did not prevent it from reaching a maximum speed of 335 kph and accelerating to 100 kph in 3.9 s.

    The supercar was fitted with forged O.Z. alloy wheels. Racing, built specifically for this car, wearing 255/30 R21 (or 245/35 R20) Continental Italia tires at the front and 295/25 R21 (or 275/30 R20) at the rear.

    Like the Antas model, the body of the Vulca S was made using Superleggera technology: external panels were fastened to the frame of light and durable aluminum pipes, hand-punched from aluminum sheets using a mallet and wooden models.

    Interior

    The interior of the Vulca S was a mixture of elements original and from BMW models, combined with expensive handmade Connolly leather and polished aluminum and wood. Electrically adjustable chairs were installed, and the rear sofa was only designed for children. The instrument panel was placed in the center of the front console, directly above the liquid crystal display, which displayed data from the rear view camera, navigation or audio system. As on the Antas, the engine start and headlight buttons were placed on the ceiling.
