Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4

The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is a mid-engine hybrid-electric sports car based on the 2019 Sian FKP 37. The release is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Countach.

The designation LPI 800-4 carries a semantic load: the abbreviation LP – longitudinale posterior (engine location – longitudinally behind), 800 – rounded engine power, 4 – all-wheel drive (based on the Haldex IV coupling).

Planned to produce 112 units, the number refers to the LP 112 model designation used in the development of the original Countach. All 112 models were completely sold out in less than a week after the presentation.

Engine

The engine is a combination of a longitudinally mounted 6.5-liter V12 engine, which in this case produces 780 hp. (720 Nm), as well as a 48-volt electric motor producing an additional 34 hp. (35 Nm), which is located inside the 7-speed robotic gearbox.

As in the Sian FKP 37, the electric motor in the new coupe is powered by supercapacitors, which in turn are powered by a regenerative braking system. Compared to lithium-ion batteries, they have a low capacity per unit weight, but a very solid power density (2.4 kW/kg). In the Countach, the electric motor, together with the supercapacitors, weighs only 34 kg. And the mass of the coupe is 1595 kg, which is not much for a hybrid. Axle weight distribution: 43% to 57% (front/rear).

Lamborghini claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds, from 0 to 200 kph in 8.6 seconds, and a top speed of 355 kph. Stopping distance from 100 kph requires only 30 meters.

Chassis

The car received an aluminum double-wishbone suspension with push rods, equipped with magnetorheological fluid shock absorbers with carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The 20" (front) and 21" (rear) LPI 800-4 wheels are 1980s "telephone" style wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

Exterior

The exterior of the all-wheel drive coupe has similar shapes to the old Countach. These are the hexagonal wheel arches, the location and style of the headlights, the wedge-shaped body shape, the shape of the air intakes and the four pipes of the exhaust system, as well as the scissor doors that have become the hallmark of Lamborghini models with a V12 engine.

At the heart of the supercar is a carbon fiber monocoque with aluminum subframes sheathed in carbon fiber panels. As well as an electronically controlled three-position rear spoiler and a fully paneled underbody. Separately, it is worth noting the electrochromic roof, which becomes transparent at the touch of a button.

Body paint is offered to choose from a modern palette of Lamborghini or in the colors of the classic Countach (including Impact White, Giallo Countach, Verde Medio, Viola Pasifae, Blu Uranus).

Interior

The interior of the supercar is made predominantly in a shade of red using genuine leather with unique stitching. The central 8.4-inch touchscreen display has a Stile button that launches a presentation explaining the Countach's design philosophy.
